    Hello! I'm Elias Newman. I am 23 and am a non-binary person who uses they/them pronouns. I Graduated from Emory and Henry College in 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance. I am from a small city in Tennessee.

     I have loved theatre since I was 13 years old. I didn't have many friends growing up and theatre gave me an opportunity to find myself through stories and characters. It's a passion I've had for nearly 10 years.

    I came out as non-binary in 2021 and have not looked back since. Coming to terms with my gender identity and navigating what my life looks like has been a big challenge for me. A part of this is because there was no representation in media for genderqueer people while I was growing up. A passion and dream of mine is to bring this representation to my art and give people like me the chance to see that they are not alone. I want to be a safe place where people can turn and feel comfortable exploring their identity. 

    Another big part of me is being Appalachian. I used to be embarrassed about where I grew up, but as I have grown and gotten a little older, I realized being Appalachian is just as much apart of me as anything else. Because of this, I also want to bring representation to southerners, especially those who are similar to me.
